Uniform

We expect that parents and carers will support our school policy and so maintain high standards and pride of appearance as their children wear the Sacred Heart School uniform.

Our policy is based on the belief that school uniform:

  • Encourages a sense of belonging to the school community;
  • Is practical and smart;
  • Fosters a sense of equality amongst all pupils;
  • Identifies children with the school;
  • Should be designed and chosen with health and safety in mind;
  • Should be as affordable as possible and easy to buy.

We recognise that in a multi-faith society, adaptations may be necessary to the uniform. These should be discussed and agreed with the school and parents should, in the first instance, approach the Headteacher on such matters.

Uniform Requirements

Jewellery, Hairstyles and Make up

In the interests of safety, security and uniformity, children are not allowed to wear any jewellery, earrings, rings or necklaces, except for wrist watches. We ask that, if you wish to have your child’s ears pierced you do so at the beginning of the summer holidays, thus giving your child’s ears time to heal before returning to school. Make-up and nail polish are also not allowed.

Children should have neat, sensible hair styles for school. If hair is long enough, it must be tied back with a simple, inconspicuous hair band. Children should not have heads shaved or designs cut into their hair e.g. tram lines, or have their hair coloured for school.
