School Meals

Lunchtimes

We are fortunate in having our own kitchen, operated by Metrofresh. This means that we can provide tasty, good quality, nutritionally balanced meals, which are good value for money. Fresh fruit, salad and vegetables are available every day. There is a three-week menu cycle which can be seen at the bottom of this page. Further information about Metrofresh can be found by clicking here.

School lunchtimes are:
Reception: 11.50am
Key Stage One: 12.00noon
Key Stage Two: 12.20pm

We operate a cashless catering system. Each child is allocated an account and a pin number. Parents can pay money into a dedicated cash machine in the school foyer. Dinner money must be paid in advance.

Packed Lunches
If you opt for your child to bring a packed lunch, we ask you to try to make the lunch as healthy as possible and not to send anything breakable (eg, flasks, glass bottles).

Special Diets and Allergies
Metrofresh provides menus for those pupils with medically diagnosed food allergies, food intolerances, religious needs or medical conditions which affect eating requirements. Please contact the school office to inform us of your child’s requirements.

Free School Meals
If your child is entitled to free school meals they can have a hot meal or our cook will provide them with a packed lunch. Since September 2014, all children in Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 automatically receive a Free School Meal as part of the government’s new initiative.

If you receive any of the following benefits then you may be able to apply for Free School Meals, and the school can support your child’s education further from the pupil premium.

  • Income Based Jobseekers Allowance
  • An income-related employment and support allowance
  • Support under part VI of the Immigration and Asylum Act 1999
  • The Guarantee element of State Pension Credit
  • Child Tax Credit, provided they are not entitled to Working Tax Credit and have an annual income (as assessed by HM Revenue & Customs) that does not exceed £16,190

Parents receiving Working Tax Credit for four weeks after their employment finishes are entitled to free school meals during that period. This also applies to parents who start working less than 16 hours per week.

If you think that you may be eligible to qualify for free school meals please do not hesitate to contact a member of the school office team. Further information is also available from Wigan Council, by clicking
